This list below shows the 21 banks that had a national charter during the currency issuing period that chose not to exercise that privilege.  It is really unfortunate too.  The state could have added Saluda, Greer, Bowman, Bamberg, North, Greer, and Saint George to the list of unique cities in the state to issue bank notes.  Sadly, The Dime National Bank also missed its chance at really being a sought after title.
