Funeral Held For Spratt Jr.
Barnett McRee Spratt, Sr., 123 Fourth Avenue NW, died unexpectedly in a Hickory hospital Saturday afternoon, after an illness of three days.  He was a native of Chester, S.C., the son of the late Barnett McRee Spratt and Frances Killian Spratt.
He was married to the former Alice Kittrell of Gadsden, Ala. on January 15, 1907.
Was Retired Accountant
Mr. Spratt was an accountant.  He moved to Hickory in 1919 and had lived in Hickory since that time with the exception of a few years he lived in Fredericksburg, Va., where was associated with his brothers in the construction business.  After he his retirement in 1955 he and Mrs. Spratt returned to Hickory.
Funeral services were held this morning at 11:00 at the First Methodist Church.  The pastor the Rev. J. Garland Winkler and the Associate Pastor the Rev. R.C. Goforth conducted the service.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Spratt in addition to his wife, is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Brooks Todd and Mrs. Conrad Crouch; one son, Barney Spratt, and ten grandchildren all of Hickory.
Other survivors include two sisters, Miss Barnett Spratt and Mrs. Rhada wade of Clinton, S.C.; four brothers, Frank K Spratt, Saluda, N.C., John Spratt, Clinton, S.C., W.C. and Tom Spratt, Fredericksburg, Va. and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Roy Spratt, Mt. Holly, N.C.
Shuford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were James A. Todd, Jr., Wayne Davis, Charles Landis, S.E. Starnes, Donnell C. Warlick, Bernard Ingold.
