            WOODRUFF – Jonas Perry Gray, 74, of Woodruff, died Friday at 11 a.m. at an Orangeburg hospital following several years declining health.
            Since early this year, he had been living at the S.C. Methodist Home for the Aging.  He was a native of Greenville County, but had lived in Woodruff most of his life.
            He was a son of the late Walter Scott and Emma Swink Gray, both old residents of the Piedmont.
            He attended Wofford Fitting School and graduated from Wofford in 1899.  He was a senator and a member of the House of Representatives from Spartanburg County.
            He was a member of Emma Gray memorial Methodist Church of Woodruff, where he took an active part as long as his health permitted.
            His wife Mr. Bell Wharton Gray died on Nov, 1951.
            Surviving are: two grandsons, Harold P. Goller Jr. of Greenville and Gray W Goller of Columbia; one great-granddaughter, Miss Sue Gray Goller of Greenville; and four nieces.
            Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Emma Gray Memorial Methodist Church by the Revs. T.B. Wilkes, L.E. Wiggings, and J.F.M. Hoffmeyer.  Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
            Pallbearers will be Marion Swink, Carlisle Gray, Dr. Dixon Falls, Henry Gentry, Harold (Jim) Gray, George and Ralph Rogers, Thomas and Newell Cox.  Members of the Board of Stewards of the church and Fred Ballenger, Dr. Belton Workman, H. Douglas Gray will form the honorary escort.
            The body will be at the Lamar-Lanford Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Saturday and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.
            The family requests that flowers be omitted.  Those who desire may send an offering to the S.C. Methodist Home for the Aging, Orangeburg.
