Niles A. Craig Passes Away
Popular Citizen Died At Hospital Last Night From Apoplexy
Niles A. Craig, a popular citizen and Greenwood merchant for more than 35 years, died at the Greenwood hospital last night at 10:45 o’clock following a stroke of apoplexy yesterday morning.  He was taken ill Friday night and became worse after being removed from his home yesterday.
News of Mr. Craig’s death will be received with profound sorrow by his countless friends throughout this section.  During his long residence in Greenwood he established a reputation for strict integrity and public spiritedness and he was held in the highest esteem.
He moved to Greenwood from Ora Laurens county in 1900, when he organized the Greenwood Hardware company, a business on which he was engaged until five years ago.  Since that time he has been connected with the refrigeration business as local representative of the General Electric company.
Mr. Craig was a native of Ora, the son of Samuel P. Craig and Janie McCarley, and would have been 65 years of age the 21st of next June.  He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Mollie Hunter, of Ora; one daughter, Miss Ora Craig, of Atlanta; two sons, Samuel P. Craig, of Atlanta, and Joshua M. Craig of Greenwood; two sisters, Misses Belle and Lizzie Craig, and one brother J.S. Craig, all of Ora.
The funeral services will be conducted at the home of Magnolia street tomorrow morning at 10:30 o’clock by his pastor, Dr. Roswell C Long, of the First Presbyterian church, and interment will be in Old Field Church Cemetery at Ora at 12 o’clock.
Blyth Service in charge.
