Robert Z Wright - Organizer of The First National Bank of Clinton, South Carolina

The following information was obtained from The Laurens County Scrapbook via Nancy Jefferies of Presbyterian College.

Robert Z. Wright.  Born April 6, 1849, five miles west of Clinton.
Served in Confederate army.
Moved to Clinton 1869.
Worked for merchant R. R. Blakely, left for a while during the "Ku Klux" troubles in the early 1870s, returned 1872.  Worked for merchant M.S. Bailey.  Then opened his own store 1875, first called Wright, Ferguson and Co. and later R.Z. Wright & Co.  Continued to operate it until 1922.
He also had a son, R.Z. Wright Jr.
